Spring news articles are to be sent to President Doug Baber by October 31, 2008. Directors from the “odd” districts are responsible for the articles.

The Administrator of the Year Committee chaired by President-Elect Randy Oliver and members Steve Fleer and Bruce Krase. will inform the membership of the selections later this month.

A discussion concerning KAMSA membership was held. KAMSA District Reps. were encouraged to send their choices for their one free membership to Executive Director John Sanborn. They were also encouraged to take KAMSA membership flyers to their League meetings, etc.

Dave Zumwalt reported on ideas from his committee concerning recognizing high performing middle schools. The committee includes: Dave Novack, Kristin Ellis, Dave Zumwalt, Tony Heward, Randy Oliver, Steve Fleer and Jill Dickerson. They met at 9:00 a.m. on September 30 in Chapman prior to the BOD meeting.

Doug Baber introduced materials on the Schools to Watch Program and will follow this up with additional information in the near future. KAMSA, if we so desire, would probably be the contact group for this program in Kansas.

John Sanborn gave a report on the KAMSA Spring Conference committee meeting held earlier in the morning prior to the BOD meeting. The dates for the Conference will be April 2-3, 2009. The Conference will again be held in Junction City. Additional information will follow as the various speakers are finalized. The Golf Activity on April 2 will include free green fees and cart rental. This will be made possible by Lifetouch. Please put these dates on your calendars and encourage fellow administrators from your KAMSA Districts to attend the Spring Conference.

Randy Oliver led the sharing ideas section of the meeting during lunch. The topic this time was “Mentoring the New Teacher.” Several members brought their resource guides with them to share. The “sharing ideas” section will now be a regular part of the BOD meetings.
